The Prophet -Peace Be Upon Him- said: "Pray as you have seen me praying."
In this article, we will show the correct steps for prayer as the Prophet (PBUH) used to pray.
1-Turning the face to the Qiblah, God Almighty said: “So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face” (Surat Al-Baqarah: 115).
2-Standing and that is an essential pillar of an obligation. As for volunteering, a person may pray sitting. God Almighty said: “and stand before Allāh, devoutly obedient.” (Surat Al-Baqarah: 238).
3-The intention, which is in the heart, not utter it. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The deeds are considered by the intentions, and a person will get the reward according to his intention.”
4-The Takbeer of Ihram, which is the saying 'Allah Akber' to start the prayer.
5-Raise the hands, and it is either with the 'Takbeer' or before or after it.
6-Place the right hand on the left and place it on the chest.
7-Looking at the place of prostration and reverence.
8-Supplication for the beginning of prayer, which is one of the ‘Sunnan’ of prayer. And there are many supplications for the beginning of the prayer that was narrated on the authority of the Prophet -(PBUH)- We will list it in a separate article.
9-Reciting ‘Alfatiha’, which is one of the pillars of prayer The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “There is no Salat (prayer) for him who does not recite‘(Surat) Fatiha al-Kitab’.” And the reading will be a verse by a verse.
10-Reading a ‘surah’ after Al-Fatiha, which is one of the ‘Sunnan’ of prayer.
11-'Al-Gaher' -reciting aloud- a little in the Fajr, Maghrib and Isha prayers, and 'Al-Esrar' -reciting quietly- in the noon.
12-Saying 'Takbeer' when kneeling.
13-Kneeling and it is one of the pillars of prayer, by placing the hands on the knees with the fingers open, and the back flat. Tranquility in bowing is obligatory, and the worshiper in bowing says 'Sobhan Rabiy Al-Azim'-(Glory be to my Lord the Great)- three times, and the Quraan is not recited in bowing.
14-Straightening up from kneeling standing with the saying 'Samie Allah liman hamd' -God heard those who praise Him-.
15-Going down to prostrate with two hands, with the 'Takbeer' for prostrating.
16-A person prostrates on seven members: palms, knees, feet, and face (forehead and nose).
17-Tranquility in prostration and saying: 'Subhan Rabiy Al'alaa'
(Glory be to my Lord the Highest) three times and the Quran is not read in it.
18-Getting up from prostration with the 'Takbeer' and then prostrating again, with tranquility between the two prostrations, and he says between the two prostrations: 'rabiy aghfir li, rabiy aghfir li' (My Lord, forgive me, my Lord, forgive me).
19- Sitting between the two prostrations, while sitting upright on the heels and on the feet.
20- The resting sitting takes place after the second prostration in the first and third rak'ah, and how it is to sit upright on his left leg until every bone returns to its position.
21- Relying on hands to get up to the next rak'ah.
22- Sitting for the 'Tashahhud' after the end of the second rak'ah, and the 'Tashahhud' is complete if it is the morning prayer, or only half of it in the rest of the prayers, and it is called the 'middle Tashahhud', and it is one of the Obligatory of prayer.
23- In the 'Tashahhud' a person sits, placing his hands on his thighs, and in the middle 'Tashahhud' he sits on the left thigh.
24- In the 'Tashahhud’, a person extends his left palm over his left knee, while clenches the fingers of the right hand, and points with the index finger towards the direction of the Qiblah, and moves his finger lightly.
25- The 'Tashahhud’: “Attaḥiyyātu lillāhi waṣṣalawātu, waṭṭayyibāt,assalāmu `alayka 'ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh, assalāmu `alaynā wa `alā ‘ibādillāhiṣ-ṣāliḥīn.'Ash-hadu 'an lā 'ilāha 'illallāh wa 'ash-hadu 'anna Muḥammadan `abduhu wa rasūluh.”
- All greetings of humility are for Allah, and all prayers and goodness. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
* ‘Alsalawat Alaibrahymia’: “Allāhumma ṣalli `alā Muḥammadinwa `alā ’āli Muḥammadin, kamā ṣallayta `alā 'Ibrāhīma wa `alā ’āli 'Ibrāhīma, 'innaka ḥamīdum-majīd.
Allāhumma bārik `alā Muḥammadin wa `alā ’āli Muḥammadin,kamā bārakta `alā 'Ibrāhīma wa `alā 'āli 'Ibrāhīma,'innaka ḥamīdum-majīd.
-Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad as You have bestowed Your favor on Ibrahim and on the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You have blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Gl 26. A person salutes on his right and says: ‘alsalam ealaykum warahmat allh’ -Peace be upon you and the mercy of God-. He may add ‘wa brakataha’ -his blessings-, and salute on his left and say: ‘alsalam ealaykum warahmat allh’ -Peace be upon you and God's mercy-.
